Make breastfeeding your business

The Pictou County Health Authority, Nova Scotia teamed up with Wooden Shoe Photography to produce a ten minute video that discusses how to make our communities more baby friendly: by nursing mothers leading by example and nursing in public and through local businesses, attractions and establishments supporting breastfeeding through inclusion.

Throughout Nova Scotia, committees exist that provide leadership for the protection, promotion, and support of breastfeeding in local communities. They are working together with their communities to develop supportive spaces thus removing some barriers that may influence women’s decision to begin and/or continue breastfeeding their babies.

They’ve also developed an action support kit designed to help local businesses build their knowledge about
breastfeeding and provide tools to better support breastfeeding women whether they are employees or clients: (click the link to see the full 30 page pdf of the kit)
