We’ve exchanged stories of breastfeeding non- stop during growth spurts and our frustrations with toddler nursing. She showed me how to do it with confidence and grace. To put it very simply, I don’t think I would have been able to breastfeed my babies without her support. Read More...
When he was born I had said that I would breastfeed for the first year, assuming by that point I would be ready to wean him. Instead, I find myself feeling very unsure of what to do. Read More...
So while Facebook is removing breastfeeding photos and locking accounts willy-nilly (thank goodness, they haven’t hit our page yet!), we thought some of you moms out there might be happy to know that there are groups and individuals that WELCOME your breastfeeding photos.
The 20th Annual World Breastfeeding Week is looking for photos for it’s 2012 action folder, banner and poster. They’re running a photo contest with cash prizes for the ten winning photos. The theme for World Breastfeeding Week this year is “Understanding the Past – Planning the Future.” You can submit as many photos as you like, check out the contest page for details.
Also, on his facebook page, Dr. Jack Newman has put out the call for photos that depict breastfeeding in unusual places or situations. He plans to use the photos in upcoming talks and possibly in a future book. There’s no cash prize, but knowing you’ve helped support the work of one of our breastfeeding champions is reward in itself! He asks that any photos you want to share be sent to his email (drjacknewman AT sympatico.ca) as a high definition attachment. Make sure you indicate in your email that you are granting him permission to use these photos in his talks and/or book. If the photos were taken by you but include other people, you’ll want their permission too. And if you didn’t take the photo, make sure you have permission to share. Tell him we sent you!
Also, we always love having photos on our facebook page. Head on over there and post what you have!
