Dr. Nicola Penney

Attending to the patient’s needs is one of the key focuses of a Breastfeeding Champion, especially as a doctor. Thanks to this nomination, it is obvious that Dr. Penney does just that:

“I would like to nominate Dr. Nicola Penney as breastfeeding support. She
practices out of Corner Brook. She has a young child of her own who she
breastfed & with the support of her family she even went through med school
after having her!! When my baby was born she had lost a fair amount of
weight, and since I had breastfed my first child with very few complications, I
wanted the same opportunities for my second. Dr. Penney understood this and
told me that changing to formula would be her last recommendation if all
else failed. She wanted follow-up weekly weight checks and gave me numerous
confidence boosts that I needed to get through. Somedays I wouldn’t have
 succeeded without her support!! ;)“
