LLLC encourages, promotes, and provides mother-to-mother breastfeeding support and educational opportunities. You can use their website to get information and support from a trained LLL Leader via phone, email, or find a local group.

Dr. Jack Newman
Dr. Newman is the foremost Canadian breastfeeding expert. On his website you’ll find plenty of information about his breastfeeding institute as well as great resources such as videos showing proper latch and breastfeeding techniques.

Kellymom: Breastfeeding and Parenting
The owner of the Kellymom website is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. On this site you’ll find evidence-based information on such topics as what drugs are safe while breastfeeding and how much milk to express for the babysitter and much more!

Australia Breastfeeding Association
This organisation provides a wealth of information that can be printed off in handout format as well as a free e-book titled Breastfeeding Confidence.

Canadian Info

INFACT Canada
INFACT Canada is a national non-governmental group that works to promote and support breastfeeding and optimal infant feeding practices. They are an advocacy group and provide plenty of fact sheets and information.

Public Health Agency of Canada
The PHAC Division of Childhood and Adolesence provides information and strategic analysis on issues related to Child Health, Parenting, and Stages of Childhood.

Breastfeeding Committee for Canada
The BCC is the national authority for the Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) in Canada. For information about how your hospital or community health service can achieve BFI designation check out the Baby-Friendly Initiative section of the BCC website. The BCC goal is to establish breastfeeding as the cultural norm throughout Canada.

Local Interest

Kids NL
Kids NL is a dynamic resource for all things kid-related in Newfoundland. The site features an extensive events calendar as well as a blog and links to relevant local content.

St. John’s Baby and Toddler Magazine
A quarterly non-profit magazine devoted to sharing resources for parents of children ages zero to three in St. John’s and surrounding areas.

Librarian Mom Blog
Librarian Mom is Lisa Marshall, a Western Newfoundland librarian and mom blogging about breastfeeding and her parenting journey.

Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Perinatal Program
Located in the Janeway Children’s Centre, the NLPPP provides a follow-up clinic for infants at high risk of developmental delay. They are the provincial authority on creating and implementing guidelines for perinatal care.

Doula Collective of NL
The Doula Collective is a group of women committed to supporting women before, during, and after labour in Newfoundland.
